PROVINCIAL GRAND CHARITY NEWS

A meeting of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Grand Charity was held at Derby on 25th June 2008 under the Chairmanship of W. Bro. Brian Quartermain.

It had been agreed at the previous meeting held in January that the Committee would consider implementing a system of acknowledgement for beneficiaries of grants from the Provincial Grand Charity in the form of a plaque. W. Bro. Neil Hartburn had undertaken to obtain samples which he produced for approval. The Committee agreed to purchase 20 large plaques and a number of smaller ones for immediate use.

The Provincial Grand Treasurer, W. Bro. Geoffrey Crawford, presented a Statement of Accounts to the date of the meeting and drew attention to certain items. He reported that he had reinvested a sum of £370,000  with the Bank of Scotland at the very attractive rate of 6.75%. The total market value of investments at 31st March 2008 was almost £852,000 with a book value of just under £708,000.
