Derbyshire Festival 2014On 12th April 2008, at the Annual Meeting of Provincial Grand Lodge, the Provincial Grand Master, R.W.Bro. Graham Rudd, DL, launched the “Derbyshire Festival 2014”. As Festival President, the Provincial Grand Master has asked the brethren of Derbyshire to support the Festival’s two objectives. First, to raise at least £2,000,000 for the Fund between now and 2014 and, secondly, to raise the profile of the Masonic Samaritan Fund in Derbyshire so that Freemasons, their widows and dependants know that they can apply to the Fund for a grant to assist them when needed. The Provincial Grand Master has asked W. Bro. Martin Bates and W. Bro. Richard McDonald to organise the Festival and they have formed an executive to support them. Details of the Festival Executive and its work are provided on the Festival website, www.DerbyshireFestival.org.uk. Each Lodge in the Province has been asked to raise a specific sum towards the festival and to appoint a Festival Steward, to co-ordinate the Lodge’s efforts for the Festival and to act as a point of contact to the Festival Executive. Lodges will be supported by an Area Director appointed for their meeting place. The list of Area Directors can be found on the Festival website. The most effective method of raising money is for members of the Province to take out a gift-aided pledge, either monthly or annually and starting as soon as possible, direct to the Masonic Samaritan Fund. All such donations, together with the tax credit and interest, will be credited to the donor, his Lodge and to the Festival. In addition, the money can be used immediately for its intended purpose. A copy of the form can be downloaded from the Festival website. The Provincial Grand Master has asked all Freemasons in Derbyshire to contribute to the Festival and to participate in the many events and activities that will take place over the next six years. Please consult the “Frequently Asked Questions” on the Festival website if you have any questions at this early stage.
