PRESS RELEASEFREEMASONS HELP THORNHILL HOUSE, GREAT LONGSTONEDonations now total £16,000On Tuesday 23 December 2003 a cheque for £2,800 was presented to Mrs Molly Thornhill, Chairman of the Thornhill Memorial Trust, by John Beard, Deputy Provincial Grand Master of Derbyshire, on behalf of the Freemasons’ Grand Charity, bringing the total amount donated to Thornhill House during the last six years to nearly £16,000. The Freemasons’ Grand Charity has been supporting hospices in all parts of the country since 1984, by making annual grants towards their running costs. The total grants made since then are now in the region of £4.75 million.
Since its opening in 1994, Thornhill House, in the village of Great Longstone, which operates as a non-profit making charity, has provided residential and nursing accommodation for the elderly of the immediate community. It enables elderly people, no longer able to live independently, to spend their days with dignity in their own community with a high degree of privacy in the sixteen single-roomed community home.
