Recent Grants
At the meeting of the Standing Committee
of the Provincial Grand Charity held on 1st August 2002 a number of
grants were approved.
Cantelupe Lodge had made a
grant of £225 to the Derby Shopmobility scheme and the Provincial Charity Committee approved a
further contribution of £275, making a total grant of £500.
The three Lodges meeting in Buxton, namely
Phoenix Lodge of St. Ann,
Buxton Lodge and
High Peak Lodge wished
to support an appeal by St. John’s Church, whose assistance had been received
during the Freemasonry in the Community Week. The Provincial Charity Committee
approved a grant of £130 to be added to the £70 already held by the three
Lodges.
The children’s charity “When you wish
upon a star” are to hold a Charity Ball in Derby in late September and requested
financial assistance. The Committee agreed to sponsor a table at the Ball at a
cost of £320, the value of 8 tickets at £40.
The Masonic Music Foundation made a
grant of £946 to the Viva Chamber Orchestra, to meet the shortfall on a
children’s concert to be held in Derby in the Autumn.
Other News
A Seminar for Almoners of all Craft
Lodges, Royal Arch Chapters and Mark Lodges is to be held in Derby on
25th
September and a Workshop for Lodge Charity Stewards will be held on 8th
October at the same venue.
The Annual Meeting of the Provincial
Grand Charity will be held at Chesterfield on 16th October 2002.
The Provincial Grand Master has been
pleased to approve the Midlands Air Ambulance and the MTGB Festival as
beneficiaries of the proceeds of the 2002 Carol Service at Derby Cathedral.
