Grand Master of the
Derbyshire
Province
Graham Rudd.
He is the personal representative of the Grand
Master, H.R.H. The Duke of Kent, and is the head of Freemasonry in
Derbyshire.

The Provincial Grand Master’s full name is John Graham
Russell Rudd and he lives at Hilton in the south of the Province. He comes from
a family with Masonic connections as his father was a well-known Derbyshire
Mason and a member of Ecclesburne Lodge. Among his
Provincial appointments was that of Provincial Grand Treasurer.
By profession Graham is a Chartered Accountant, spending most of his working life
in industry and he also served for eleven years as Chairman of the former
Southern Derbyshire Health Authority.
He was initiated into Tyrian Lodge
No. 253 in Derby in 1971 and reached the Chair in 1982. His first Provincial
appointment was to the office of Past Grand Sword Bearer in 1989, following
which he was promoted to Past Junior Grand Warden in 1994 and Acting Junior
Grand Warden in 1995. His next appointment was to that of Assistant Provincial
Grand Master in 1997, in which year he also received the rank of Past Junior
Grand Deacon in United Grand Lodge, before becoming
Provincial Grand Master in 2005.
He is a Founder Member of the Lodge of Fellowship which meets at Duffield, the home
of his late father’s Lodge. He is also a member of the Derbyshire Lodge of
Installed Masters, assuming the Chair in 2004, and of the Royal Somerset and
Inverness Lodge No. IV, one of the three surviving Lodges which founded the
Premier Grand Lodge in 1717.
